This short course will provide participants with a greater understanding of personal self defense. Emphasis is placed on techniques to avoid and manage violence or the threat of violence. The techniques in the class are selected based on the most common and probable threats a women may face. They will draw on the inherent reflexes and intuitions that exist in all of us resulting in learned responses that are relatively simple to execute.
Some of the key points you will study and come to understand are:
- Trust your instincts and intuition – violence is often predictable and easily avoidable!
- Awareness is key to practical self-defense – accept that violence is inherent in society.
- Do not be afraid to say no – don’t override intuition!
- Develop confidence using simple, fast, and effective techniques to control violence.
You will learn skills to overcome grabs, punches, kicks and more through hands-on experience.
You will learn the skills quickly and will be able to practice them with skilled instructors in a safe yet challenging environment.
You will leave the course feeling empowered and better prepared to defend yourself, be it on the street, on a college campus, in the mall parking lot or anywhere you feel your safety is threatened.
